PREAMBLE

FORMER STUDENTS OF ST MARY’S HIGH SCHOOL, PONDA, WHO HAVE BEEN PRIVILEGED TO STUDY IN THIS PRESTIGIOUS SCHOOL, WOULD LIKE TO PLACE ON RECORD THEIR APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE TO THE FRANCISCAN HOSPITALLER SOCIETY FOR IMPARTING GOOD EDUCATION BASED ON SOUND MORAL VALUES IN PREPARING THEM FOR LIFE. TO PERPETUATE THIS LEGACY AND TO UNITE THE EX-STUDENTS IN A COMMON BOND, IT WAS DECIDED TO BRING TOGETHER ALL THE FORMER STUDENTS UNDER ONE BODY. INSPIRED BY THE MOTTO, THE MEMBERS OF THIS EX-STUDENTS ASSOCIATION WILL STRIVE TO GROW TO THEIR FULL POTENTIAL TO MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE.

CAREER GUIDANCE FOR STD IX & X STUDENTS
























A career guidance program was organized by the Ex-Students Association of St Mary’s High School for the students of Std IX & X on 26th February 2011 in the school complex.
Dr Purnanand Savoikar, Head of Government Polytechnic ,Bicholim was the Speaker for the 1st session He guided the students on the various career options available like Engineering , medicine, dental pharmacy Architecture, Fine Arts etc , the criteria for getting into these fields with his informative power point presentation . He called upon the students to decide & choose the right fields suitable to them. He also touched on the counseling part in this connection. Earlier Mr Vikas Chodankar introduced the guest to the gathering. The Headmistress Sr. Annie Paul asked the students to be on their toes in this technologically changing world. She further cautioned the students while going through this career selection part & to choose the one suitable to him or her. There was a good interaction between the speaker & the students who were very inquisitive in knowing the career paths available to them. Miss Artimisia , Treasurer of Ex Students Association presented a memento to Dr Purnanand Savoikar.
Major Arnawaaz Daruwalla from 6TTR Ponda was the other speaker. Vice president Mr John Aguiar introduced her to the floor . She spoke on “ Indian Army as a career”. She highlighted upon the different cadres available like Technical, Logistics & Administration through Permant Commission and through Short Service Commission. She also covered the services like Artillery, Aviation, Air Defence , Corps of Signals Engineers. The services renderes by the Armed Forces Medical College was also touched upon. She said the Army teaches you to face the toughest situations in life .She herself being a very good Parajumper , talked about the other experiences in the army like Adventure sports , yachting, etc.
Mr Vikas K Chodankar presented a memento to Major Arnawaaz Daruwalla. Miss Vineeta Lewis Joint Secretary proposed the vote of thanks. Mr Nikhil Bhingarde was instrumental in the program organization. Miss Sibelia Dias compered the program. Teachers Nagaralli, Ruby Rodrigues attended the program
